Department of Culture

Project Overview

The Mahakumbh 2025, held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from 13 January to 26 February 2025, was one of the world's largest spiritual and cultural gatherings, attracting millions of devotees, pilgrims, saints, artists, and visitors from across India and around the globe. Alongside its religious significance, the event served as a grand platform for showcasing India's diverse cultural heritage through thousands of performances, exhibitions, folk traditions, spiritual discourses, and artistic presentations.
The objective of this project was to comprehensively document the cultural dimensions of Mahakumbh 2025 through professional photography, videography, and digital archiving. The assignment covered cultural performances, traditional art forms, folk music and dance, spiritual gatherings, exhibitions, artist interactions, audience engagement, and the vibrant atmosphere across multiple cultural venues within the Mahakumbh area. Many artists performed across numerous cultural stages during the event, making visual documentation an essential tool for preserving this historic cultural legacy.
The project involved high-resolution photography, cinematic videography, event coverage, interviews, aerial and ground-based visual storytelling, and systematic photo-video documentation for archival, promotional, and historical purposes. Special emphasis was placed on capturing the spirit of faith, culture, tradition, and national unity that defined Mahakumbh 2025. The final deliverables included curated photo archives, documentary films, highlight videos, event records, and digital assets that will serve as a permanent visual repository of one of the most significant cultural events in contemporary India.
This documentation project preserves the rich cultural narrative of Mahakumbh 2025 and creates an enduring visual legacy for future generations, researchers, cultural institutions, government agencies, and the global community.
